Learn Lalitha Sahasranama training online program equips the participants to understand the meaning of each name of the divine mother and chant each name in the Lalitha Sahasranama with the right pronunciation. The program will be facilitated in English and Telugu language. English and Telugu sessions are conducted separately. Lalita Sahasranamam comprises a thousand names of Goddess Lalita. The names are arranged as hymns (stotras).
Lalitha Sahasranama Significance
Lalitāmbikā is the embodiment of compassion as She is fondly addressed as Śrī Mātā, which means the mother of the universe. She is fondly worshipped through many means such as worshipping Śrī Cakra, meditating on Her through Japa mantra-s such as Pañcadaśī and Sodaśī, singing Her praise through various verses, etc. The most important among the last ones is Her most celebrated Sahasranāma, which was authored by Her very close attendants in Her presence and in Her place. Every name used in this Sahasranāma has got gross and subtle meaning. Sahasra means one thousand and nāma means name. Nāma does not merely refer to names, but also to Her forms and attributes. She engulfs the universe through Her delusionary influence called māyā. Śiva has given Her full authority for effectively administering the universe.
Composition of Lalitha Sahasranamam
Lalita sahasranama is said to have been composed by Eight Vaag Devis (Vaag Devatas) under the control of Lalita. The sahasranama claims that” You can worship Lalitha only if she wishes us to do this”. Lalitha Saharanama’s text is a dialogue between Hayagriva (an avatar of Mahavishnu) and Sage Agastya. The temple at Thirumeyachur, near Kumbakonam, is said to be where Agastya was initiated into this sahasranama. An alternate version is that the Upanishad Bramham Mutt in Kanchipuram is where this initiation occurred.
Lalitha Sahasranama is used in various modes for the worship of the Divine Mother. Vedicology Vedic Expert Mr Easwaran Namboothiri explains that this sahasranama is a sacred text to worship the” Divine Mother”, Lalita, and can be used in the worship of Durga, Parvati, Kali, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Bhagavati, etc. A primary text for Shakti worshippers, it titles her various attributes, and such titles are coordinated in the form of a hymn.
Story behind Lalitha Sahasranamam
This stotra (hymn of praise) occurs in the Brahmanda Purana (history of this universe) from the chapter of discussion Between Hayagreeva and Agasthya. Hayagreeva is an Incarnation of Vishnu together with the head of a horse who’s held to be the Agasthya is one of those sages of yore and among those Stars of the constellation Saptarishi (Ursa major). At the request of Agasthya, Hayagreeva is said to have taught him the thousand holiest names of Lalita. This was conveyed to us by the sage Maharishi Vyasa. Lalita Sahasranama is the only sahasranama written by Vagdevatas under Goddess Lalita’s leadership. The Rest of the sahasranamas are said to have been passed on from The writings by Maharishi Vyasa. Notice that even before Vyasa many worshipped the Devas with Sahasranamas. Vyasa didn’t write Sahasranamams but only discovered them during his writings.
