Panchajanya Shankh – It is held in the upper left hand. It is believed to have the splendour of a million moons. The word meaning of this term
paancha-janya is “That which is born of the five” (sense organs), so its stands for the mind.
Mind being the seat of the ego, the sastras declare that the conch in the divine hand of Sree Narayana is the ego factor (Ahamkara-tattva) in our personality
Kaumodaki Gada It is held by the lower right hand. It is the embodiment of Meru Mountain. It is believed to alleviate all forms of evil. This mace is described as representing the intellect in man (Buddhi tattva)
Nandaka Khadga – This sharp sword is used to cut off both internal and external enemies. This term indicates one who holds and wields
the Nandaka-sword, which stands for Vidya (spiritual illumination).
Saranga Dhanush – This is an ornament for devotees and a weapon against evil. It aids in the maintenance of Dharma.
The Vishnusahranama ends with the verse honoring the 5 weapons held by Lord Vishnu. In this concluding stanza, the
instruments of blessing in Sree Narayana’s hands are remembered with reverence and devotion.
