The Living room is where we spend a lot of time in doing activities that we like. Of Course, we all wish to have a cozy and naturally lit space that is welcoming, and so, let us look at some Vastu tips for the living room.
Vastu tips for living room direction
The living room as per vastu principles should be in east or north of the main house, leaving out the southeast corner of the building. If the living room, is a room in the northern side, then vastu shastra recommends that the room should be shorter by 1”inch to 3” inches in height, but bigger and spacious than the other rooms. This rule is applicable for all rooms in the northern side of the house. A living room in the north is more beneficial, than in any other direction.
Other factors to be considered for Living Room Vastu
If at all there is s slope to the living room flooring, it should be to the east or north. Similarly, a sloping ceiling towards the east or north is auspicious. In modern architecture, the height of the living room is double of that of the other rooms and that is acceptable as per vastu principles. If there is a staircase leading up towards the upper floors, the ideal place to have it is in the south or the west or towards the southwest corner of the living room, rising up towards the south or the west direction.
Living room décor as per Vastu principles
It is auspicious to have a decorated and sweet-scented atmosphere in the living room. Pictures of Gods and waterfalls can be put up in the Northeast corner. Should you wish to keep stuffed animals, then it should be in the northwest corner. Another aspect to heed while doing up the living room, is to avoid putting pictures of Gods above the door on the inside of the room. You may have a Ganesha photo or tile painting above the entrance door on the outside.
Similarly, a living room will have a bright and favourable mood with white, lighter hues of yellow, blue or green paint on the walls.
Placement of furniture inside the living room
The placement of ergonomic furniture in the living room gives comfort, and projects the room as classy. The furniture should be square or rectangular in shape. A living room should not have circular, triangular or seating with odd shapes.
The furniture and the heavy articles in the room should be in the west or south direction. The head of the family should sit facing the North or the east direction.
If due to certain reasons the furniture is in the east or northern direction, then the it should be either light and hollow or should be kept on a base 1-3 inches above the floor.
Other articles inside the living space and their arrangements
Next, let us look at the arrangement of other articles inside the living room, as per vastu principles. Keeping the TV in the south-east is ideal. A TV in the northwest warrants for loss of precious productive time of the inmates. And one in the southwest will break down, for sure, frequently.
Accordingly, a telephone in the east, north or southeast, is perfect. Placing one in the southwest or northwest corner is not proper as per vastu.
Indeed, the next feature that we will talk about is a fancy chandelier in the living room, and the west side is the place for it.
On the west side, a cooler or an air conditioner will be well suited, as per living room vastu.
