How do we identify the four directions? What is the importance of nature and character of the Vastu Shastra Directions?
‘Puurab’ (east): You are facing the East (Poorab or Purva) direction while facing the rising Sun
This direction is the “Pitrustaan”. It should not have blocks since it is the source of male issues.
‘Paschim’ (West) : The Vastu direction where the Sun sets is the west or “Paschim”. It is the source of name, fame and prosperity. The character of the direction is to bestow popularity.
‘Uttara’ (North) : While you face the rising Sun, on your left is North. North is the “Maathrustaan”. This direction should not have blocks as it Is the source of female issues
‘Dakshina’ (South): While facing the rising Sun, on your right is the South. It is the source of wealth, crops and happiness.
Identifying the corners and their nature
The corners where the two directions meet are more powerful and stronger since they carry the combination of the forces of both directions. Every comer has been further divided and each Vastu Shastra directions defined for specific activities as per its nature and character.
The corner where north and east meets is Northeast or “Eeshanya”. It is the source of health, wealth, prosperity and male issues.
And the corner of the south and East is “Agneya” or Southeast. It is the corner which is related to the source of health. Also, related to cooking, food and fire.
The Northwest is called the “Vayavya”. The nature of this Vastu direction, is related to business and family relations and its character, is the change in the course of business, friendship and enmity.
And the Southwest is “Nairuthya” It is the source of behavior, character of individuals and cause of longevity and death.
