One thing, you must notice about ancient Hindu temples in India, that they are very sturdy. They have been standing strong for so many centuries. Do you ever wonder about ancient Hindu temple architecture, that makes them so strong? For eg – Have you heard about the miracle in Kedarnath? In 2013, Uttrakhand was severely flooded with people losing their lives. Even in Nepal, a disastrous earthquake ruined everything from property to humans. However, one thing was similar between the two. Even after the deadly natural phenomenon, the temples remain to withstand. Is this the god power or the outstanding work by temple designers?
The Remarkable Technology of Ancient Temples
Earlier, people were fond of Gods and temples. They would immerse all their mind and soul in the construction of temples. They would build the temples in a way that it won’t be destroyed by any natural calamity. They used a technology wherein they would use a cushion to create the temple. Due to the support of the pillars, the temples withstood the test of nature.
Another Technique: SandBox
The designers used another technique called SandBox while building ancient temples. It involved pouring innumerable sand below the temple. Sometimes, they added other mixtures to it, including jaggery and quartz. This technique helped in protecting the holy places from the earthquake.
Ancient Rock Temples
Just like it is said, our ancestors were the real masters. They had a vivid knowledge of every field. If they built temples on the rock, they bored holes in the rock and poured molten iron in them. Later they would also fit irons rods in them. This well-defined structure would protect the temples from whatsoever calamity.
The Vast Knowledge
Some people might say that it is God protecting ancient temples. However, from the knowledge we have gained, it is clear that human beings are the best creation. Our ancestors used their minds to create such holy structures in the best possible way. Their engineering skills were the only reason for the protection of our temples. Even if we are on our way to modernisation, we should applaud the efforts of our ancestors. They have provided us with outstanding knowledge and techniques.
