Let us further look at the interpretation of Vastu directions and slopes of land as per vastu shastra. Varahimihira has interpreted 26 types of land and the elevation of land in various directions. We shall discuss a few of them here and understand the slopes and its influence on the land. These rules are particularly considered for assessing residential plots as per vastu.
Cardinal directions and slopes as per Vastu principles
Vastu consultants recognize a land with elevation in the west and slope in the east with the term “Govithi”. This type of land increases wealth and progeny and hence is suitable for residential uses.
Now, let us look at the opposite of this. A land elevation in the east and sloping towards the west is unsuitable since it destroys progeny. This type of land is familliar to the experts as the “Jalvithi”.
Similarly, land that is higher in the North and slopes down to the south destroys health. Hence the such type of land is called “Yamvithi”.
On the contrary, a piece of land with elevation in the South and depression in the North provides good health and is notable as “Ganavithi”.
The above 4 consider the cardinal directions and hence knowing these rules, one can quickly analyse a piece of land on its suitability.
Further rules
Now that we know that the depressions in the North and East are favorable, we may safely assume that any land that has a slope in the Northeast is auspicious.
A land higher in the Ishanya – Northeast provides sorrow and pain. Vastu experts clearly term this land as Bhutvithi and do not recommend them. The opposite of this, is the Dhanvithi, with a slope towards the North east. Owning such a land increases the net worth of the owner, in terms of non-movable assets. This is highly acceptable for building residential houses.
A land elevation in the Agneya (Southeast ) and sloping towards Vayavya (northwest) is the Nagvithi and bestows the owner with more assets (land etc). The opposite of this , i.e a land with a slope in the Southeast, destroys the property of the individual owner and is the Vaishvaner vithi.
We have discussed the interpretation of vastu directions and slopes of land as per vastu shastra, in relation to the major directions, we shall discuss more on vastu of land in our upcoming articles.
